As increasing numbers of people look to the internet to do their shopping, having an online presence as a retailer has never been more important, or perhaps even vital, for growth and continued market success. As e-commerce solutions become more accessible and easier to implement the argument for utilising them gets stronger. The bottom line: if you sell, you should sell online.
An E-Society report, produced by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), found that 66% of UK adults aged between 16 and 74, quizzed in 2009, had bought online in the previous year. ONS figures also showed that the value of internet retail sales in Great Britain rose from an average weekly value of £169.3m in November 2006 to £446.1m in July 2010. By July 2010, internet sales made up 8% of the country’s total retail sales.
But the investment in digital technologies for your business doesn't have to stop at the shop window. As several other businesses are demonstrating there are many different digital technologies which can be implemented to enhance the customer experience and ultimately result in increased sales and revenue.
